I have a beautiful double post feature coming up for you! This gorgeous new Mom came in for maternity photos (shown in this post), and then followed up a few weeks later after her son was born with some matching newborn photos (which I’ll show off next week).
Not every new mom opts for maternity photos, but they certainly add to the whole pregnancy experience for many women. It’s a great way to capture the point in time when your growing baby is a part of you. It’s nine months that many women feel is gone too soon. Pregnant women also have a uniquely feminine figure during this time, and photos offer something to remember this by.
Plus it’s a lot of fun to sit down and plan out your maternity photos and newborn photos. I like planning the two out when I first meet with a client for their maternity session. Things may change after the baby is born, but generally speaking, we can plan in advance for the general feel of both sessions. What’s your style? Are you more laid-back and casual, or do you want to go for a more sultry and serious look? What are some clothing choices, fabrics, and textures we could feature in both sessions to provide visual cues? What sort of poses and looks do you like – with and without your baby – that we could incorporate into both sessions? Do you want your partner to be in some pictures? How will they be incorporated into poses with you? And how might their style need to match yours?
These are just some of what I go over when I meet with clients for a maternity session. Trust me – we go over a lot. But thoroughness is a must so we can nail the type of session you’re going for.
